Lumen
A local-first knowledge graph where notes become nodes, shared ideas become edges, and AI features stay transparent.

What it is
Lumen is a browser-native knowledge graph for notes. It turns notes into nodes, shows connections between ideas, and keeps the workspace local-first so it feels private and inspectable.
Why it matters
Most AI note tools ask users to trust a black box. Lumen points in the other direction: show the graph, show the retrieved notes, show what leaves the machine, and keep the user in control.
What was built
- Interactive graph view with tag and semantic edge modes.
- Semantic search with browser-side embeddings.
- Ask-your-notes flow with cited source notes.
- PDF and URL ingestion designed around review before use.
Product thinking
The strongest idea is not “AI for notes.” It is trustable augmentation. The product earns trust by exposing the path from question to sources to answer.
What could improve next
The next version could add optional sync, stronger writing workflows, and a clearer onboarding path for people who do not already think in graphs.
